Apple INC and China Mobile Enters Into A New Deal for Years to Come

From January 17th 2014, Apple and China Mobile will start operating together. They have already signed an agreement. This agreement will see the operator offer the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S. China Mobile is going to sell these two handsets from their retail stores.

It’s now a well known fact that China Mobile is the world’s largest operator with a huge customer base. And the estimated base is at 710 million. From the day of Christmas, customers of China Mobile will be able to place and order and register for their devices from this branded retail store itself. These devices are for sale in the UK since September 2013.

Although the value of this agreement is unknown, Apple INC says that this agreement will last for several years from now. Apple CEO Tim Cook said that China is an ‘extremely important market for Apple.

It has been mentioned that the details of pricing and viability for this iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will declared later some time.

BlackBerry On Verge of Getting Perish

BlackBerry is going to lose three senior executives by the end of this year and thereafter. In the next two weeks, the president of global sales Rick Costanzo and the vice president will leave BlackBerry by the end of 2013.
 
Director of global public policy Mark Cameron is leaving to PR and another concern. Both the president and the Vice president have been with this Canadian company for 14 and 13 years respectively. Seeing the downfall getting accelerated, this is going to be their decision.

Gusto Gets into Better Deal

Gusto distributors are entering into a deal with a major retailer on the high street. They get exclusive rights until next year. It launched in August 2012, partnering with both Elite Mobile and Gusto Telecom. However, Crystalusion supplier Solution in Media has now handed exclusive distributor rights to the latter.
Mobile Fun and Clove Technology. Elite is understood to have established a partnership with eXpansys, which Gusto will now control.

Gusto MD Joe Bennett reports. He’s on the verge of signing a deal for a high street retailer to exclusively sell the7.99 pound product until the end of the year.

20:20 Mobile UK finance director Andy White quits

20:20 Mobile finance director and managing Andy White is resigning after a period of 16 years. Mobile News understands White resigned from the company, which is in the process of being acquired by Brightstar, in October – with an internal announcement being issued today.
 
White’s official leaving date is December 23, and is said to have already accepted a new position outside of the mobile industry. His replacement is currently unknown.

 

O2’s New Announcement

O2 has announced it will build a free-to-access Wi-Fi network in the Nottinghamshire market town of Newark.
The O2 Wi-Fi will allow Newark shoppers and visitors to use the free and secure internet service, regardless of network, after they have registered when first logging in.
 
Once registered, customers will automatically be connected to O2 Wi-Fi when they enter a coverage area.
O2 will begin installing Wi-Fi technology into buildings and street furniture in January 2014. The operator will share the cost of the equipment, installation and maintenance with the council, which will coordinate and commission any maintenance and repair through its own contractor on behalf of O2.

Brightstar’s Acquistion of UK hardware is Complete

Brightstar has completed the acquisition of UK hardware distributor. Mobile for an undisclosed fee, rebranding as Brightstar.
The acquisition sees the number of countries Brightstar operates in increase from around 38. By following the JV sale – to more than 50. It serves more than 200 operators and 50,000 retailers, and has a local presence in more than 50 countries, including the UK and Spain.
20:20’s European markets include Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Portugal as well as the UK. Mobile currently serves over 3,500 customers with annual turnover of nearly 1 billion pound.

iPad Mini With Retina Eyes Hits Online Store

iPad mini hits the online store, the price of this piece is 319 pound for 16GB Wi-Fi only model. The other one for 64GB WI-Fi and Cellular model will cost 659 ponds. More is in the pipeline and are likely to be released later this month. 

 This Apple device with Retina display is the latest tablet addition. The Wi-Fi only model costs £319 for 16GB of memory, £399 for 32GB, £479 for 64GB and £559 for 128GB. The Wi-Fi + Cellular cost an additional £100 for each model. It was supposed to be released by October 22. But, it took time.

By 2019 Mobile subscription Likely to Reach 9.3 billion

Ericsson reports that predictions show 60 per cent of subscription will come through smart phones.

According to the latest Ericsson Mobile Report, mobile subscription is likely to go up and will reach 9.3 billion by 2019. They maintained that total mobile subscription currently is 6.6 billion. They added that 60 per cent of these connections are for smartphones. Currently, around 25-30 percent are meant for smart phones. Ericsson reports says that by 2019 Ericsson research will reach 60 per cent growth and 3G connection will reach almost 90 percent.

O2 Launches 4G Prepay Plans

O2 has launched the first of its kind 4G prepay tariff. It’s available both in stores and online.

With a top up of 15 UK pounds, customers will get 75 talktime minutes and 500 messages and 500 MB of data. If they continue for the next three to six months, they will get double advantages.

There are three available data bolt-ons available with the tariff: 100MB for 3 pounds , 500MB for 6 pounds and 1GB for 10 pounds.O2 has also announced it will be launching a new range of 4G mobile broadband tariffs next month for use on tablets and laptops.

Industry describes Dawe, who passed away at the age of 50 last week, as ‘one of the originals’, ‘a huge inspiration to many people’ and ‘a great man’

The telecoms industry has paid tribute to industry veteran Angus Dawe who passed away on September 30 at the age of 50.

Dawe’s career in mobile spanned more than 20 years and he was described by many of his former colleagues as “one of the originals” and a“larger-than-life character” who will be sorely missed.
